Shelly Staton

Director of Finance

Shelly Staton

Shelly serves as the Director of Finance--a role shared between the Daniel Stowe Botanical Garden and Catawba Riverkeeper.

Her interest in the finance industry began at the early age of 18 when she started working in banking. This interest grew into a passion, leading her to further her education. She earned a Bachelor’s degree with a double major in Business Administration and Business Finance and then went on to receive her Master’s degree in Business Administration with a focus in Accounting.

Her educational accomplishments and eagerness to enter the accounting workforce landed her a prominent position as an Accounting Manager for a non-profit religious private school. After fine-tuning her skillset there, she became a Retail Accountant, responsible for managing the finances of eleven retail stores across various states.

In this role, her primary responsibilities include handling all accounts payables, expenses, and revenue functions. She manages the daily finance and accounting operations and assists staff and vendors with any finance-related questions.

Outside of work, Shelly has three beautiful daughters, and they all love being active outdoors and enjoying nature. They’re also looking forward to starting their own at-home fruit and veggie garden!
