During the summer, Riverkeeper staff, interns, and volunteers run our Swim Guide program to inform the public of which popular swimming sites in the basin are safe to swim in. We do this by collecting and testing water samples of almost 60 sites every Thursday, and posting results every Friday. A program of this size is only possible with the support of donors who recognize the value of letting the public know where it's safe to swim! Help your community swim safely this summer and donate to Swim Guide today!
Did you know that there are 8,900 miles of waterways in the Catawba-Wateree River Basin? These rivers, lakes, and streams are part of 164 sub-watersheds. That’s a lot of area to keep our eyes on. You can help us get the job done by sponsoring a watershed for $250. Sponsoring a watershed provides the resources that Catawba Riverkeeper needs to monitor our waterways, collect relevant data, and report pollution to the proper authorities. The summer months are very busy at Catawba Riverkeeper! From running our Floating Classroom and supporting Paddling Camp, Adventure Camp, & Nature Camp at Daniel Stowe Botanical Gardens, to continuing river restoration work (such as Spider Lily propagation & shoreline stabilization), our plates our very full. Choose how you would like to support our mission to preserve, protect, and restore the waters of the Catawba through education, advocacy, and engagement by clicking the button below!
